I opened the Austin Office in 2016 as a Sr. Project Manager responsible for the construction of our first Austin project, Alta Tech Ridge. In 2018 I was promoted to lead the entire So. Texas region, encompassing Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, among other smaller cities. I have since overseen the construction of more than 3,000 units worth more than $400,000,000. Additionally, we have grown the Austin Office with the addition of two Project Executives anf a Sr. Project Manager, and a dozen PMs and APMs. In 2022 we promoted one of our Project Executives to VP in the Houston office. We are on track to be one of the busiest regions in Wood Partners with projected starts of 6 more projects over the next year. Wood Partners specializes in the development, construction and management of market rate rental apartment and townhouse communities throughout the U.S.

As one of three executives with daily managerial duties within the IMPACT organization, I was responsible for project management oversight of all active jobs under construction as well as preconstruction activities on prospective projects. IMPACT specializes in central and south Austin apartment, condominium, and townhouse communities at below-market rent and sales prices. I also oversaw recruiting and employee development for M Builders.

Lakeshore Azul Apartments, Austin, TX and Rivera Apartments, San Antonio, TX
Sr. PM overseeing two ~300-unit wrap apartment projects with structured parking garages. Approximate budget for each is roughly $30MM. Overall responsibility includes all financial accountability, management of the field and office staff, and mentorship of Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and Superintendents in Project Management Best Practices.

As part of the senior management team for the Texas region, I am also involved in networking and business development efforts to grow the MPC brand, recruiting and team training, and bidding new work.

Temple Beth Shalom - Austin, TX
Project lead on the $5.5MM ground-up construction of an Andersson-Wise designed temple and community center for the Dell Jewish Community Center in northwest Austin.

Luxury Residence, Bay Area, CA
As the lead project manager reporting to the project director, was responsible for the daily financial management of this $30MM+ luxury private residential project. Primary duties include oversight of the Project Budget, negotiating all Owner Contract matters, drafting or approving Subcontract Agreements, monthly preparation of all reporting documents, Change Order review and approval, Subcontractor prequalifications, and Schedule review. This project was completed in the Spring of 2012 with a contract growth and associated fee growth of over 30%.

In January of 2009, along with several other ex-Opus employees, I formed a construction and development consultancy. My primary focus was on business development and operations management. Phocis Group performed project management, estimating, and bid services for custom residential, commercial, and public works clients.

Opus Logistics Center (now NorCal Logistics Center) – Stockton, CA
Managed the design and construction of the client’s build-to-suit requirements for this 750,000sf concrete tilt-up distribution center in Stockton, CA. The total construction value of this project is almost $60MM. This project was completed one month ahead of schedule with a contingency savings of nearly $1MM.

Jacuzzi Ranch Retail - Antioch, CA
Oversaw the entitlement and conceptual design of this (projected) $60-million, 50 acre, 450,000sf retail shopping center in Antioch, CA.

Park Terrace at Mission Bay - San Francisco, CA
Responsible for the interiors package (including the options and upgrades) for San Francisco’s bestselling luxury condo development in 2007, a $60-million, 110-unit project in Mission Bay.

The Village at Sacramento Gateway - Sacramento, CA
Successfully managed the completion of this lifestyle retail center in Sacramento in order to complete the $150-million sale of the master-planned Sacramento Gateway retail project. On-time completion was critical in order to finalize the project’s sale to a large institutional investor, which netted over $40 million.

2001-2004

I coordinated the planning, permitting, design and construction document production for many residential, commercial and recreational projects in northern California. I oversaw the on-site construction observation and client consultations for these projects. I managed a small team consisting of administrative support, civil design and drafting and was personally responsible for the design and construction document production for over 20 residential and commercial structural systems utilizing wood, steel, concrete and masonry. I implemented Autodesk Revit and was also responsible for general IT systems support.
